About Dermal Stories
We publish long-form skincare features and clearly labelled sponsored advertorials. This page explains who we are, what we do, and where the money comes from.
Who we are
Dermal Stories LLC is a small independent publisher registered in the State of New York and based at 601 Lexington Ave, Suite 2000, New York, NY 10022, USA. We write about skin — ageing, texture, barrier health, the under-eye area, and the enormous, confusing consumer market that has grown up around all of it.
Our readers are mostly women between thirty-five and seventy who have bought a great deal of skincare over the years and would like someone to explain, in plain English, what any of it actually does.
What we publish
Two kinds of thing, and we mark the difference clearly on every page:
- Editorial features — reporting and explainers researched and written by our own staff, with no commercial arrangement attached to the products mentioned.
- Advertorials — sponsored consumer features written in an editorial voice on behalf of an advertiser. Every one of these carries a visible “Advertorial” label at the top of the page and a full marketing disclosure in the footer. Our current front-page feature about the under-eye area is one of these.
How we are paid
We do not sell products. We do not take payment from readers, and we do not operate a shop, a cart, or a checkout.
Our revenue comes from performance-based advertising arrangements. When a reader clicks through from one of our advertorials to a merchant's own website and completes a qualifying action there, the merchant pays us a referral fee. That fee is the entire extent of our relationship with the merchant. It does not change the price you pay, and it is disclosed on every sponsored page we publish.
Purchases, payments, shipping, returns and refunds are handled entirely by the merchant under the merchant's own terms. We never see, handle, or store your payment details.
Our editorial standards
- Sponsored content is always labelled as sponsored, at the top of the page, before the headline.
- Where we cite a manufacturer's study, panel, or claim, we say so and attribute it rather than presenting it as independent evidence.
- Personal narratives written for advertorials are written as promotional material by an editorial persona, and that is stated plainly in the disclosure on the page.
- We do not publish medical advice. Cosmetic products are described as cosmetic products, and we point readers toward a qualified professional for anything clinical.
- We correct errors when they are pointed out to us. If you have found one, please write to us.
A note on cosmetic claims
Skincare is a category where claims routinely outrun evidence. We try to be careful about the difference between what a product physically does, what a manufacturer says it does, and what a customer reports experiencing. Those three things are not the same, and where we can distinguish them for you, we will.
